Sweet Timing
It’s one of the best parts about living in West Michigan during the summer - blueberry season.
After waiting through a long winter and a chilly spring, suddenly those little blue gems are everywhere. Roadside stands pop up, families head out to the u-pick fields with buckets in hand, and our local farms have perfected their blueberry donut recipes.
Perfectly ripe blueberries taste SO good because we had to wait for them, but waiting isn’t easy. We want answers now. We want prayers answered yesterday. We want God to show us the next step before we even finish asking.
But just like those blueberry bushes don't produce fruit overnight, God is often growing something in us long before we can see the results.
James 5:7 says, "See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains."
Farmers understand something we often forget: good things take time.
The sweetest blueberries aren't the ones picked too early. They need time to ripen. In the same way, God isn't delaying because He's forgotten you. He's working in ways you may not be able to see yet, preparing something that's worth waiting for.
So this summer, whether you're filling a bucket at your favorite blueberry farm, baking a pie, flipping blueberry pancakes on a Saturday morning, or just sneaking a handful straight from the carton, let those berries remind you of something bigger.
God is always growing something good.
