You likely know, I LOVE pizza! Every Friday I eat pizza. Sometimes it is homemade in the oven. Sometimes I use my woodfired pizza maker. Sometimes we get it to go. Even when I am out of town, I make a point to eat pizza on Friday!
I love it when listeners come up to me and talk about their 'pizza night'. . We share about toppings, crust styles, 'Best pizza places in town,' etc. It builds a fun little bond
In August, I received a text from Abbey, a JOY99 listener. "Tommy, I have a little surprise that our family would like to give to you".
Days later, I was given a gift bag. Inside was a professional Pizza Cutter! This thing is incredible. A pizza wheel on one side and a crust cutter on the other means you can cut through every crust, every time, with just one tool—no matter what type of pan it’s in. It cuts like nothing else. What a blessing.
I use it every Friday night.
One Friday night, as I grabbed for the pizza cutter, the Lord nudged me to pray for Abbey and her family. So I did. It was a brief prayer of thanks, and a prayer for their health, protection, and growth. Nothing too big.
The following Friday, when I grabbed the pizza cutter, I did the same thing. I offered a prayer of thanks for Abbey and her family. You see where this is going. It has now become a 'Friday night thing' for me to pray as I use that pizza cutter.
It got me thinking: "What else do I own, or wear, that was given to me, that I can begin to use as a 'prayer prompt'?"' Now, every time I grab the sweater in the closet that my mom gave me, I pray for her. When I use the special coffee mug from my daughter, I pray for her.
The next step is letting that person know that you are praying for them.
How many things do you have that were given as gifts, that can turn into prayer prompts? Better yet, think of the power of prayer that is about to begin!
