Seeking God

I often get asked, "Do you ever hear the voice of God?" That would be amazing, right? Think of how cool it would be if He spoke to you like a voice through your GPS. "Go in this direction." "Yes, take that job. "Reach out to her because she is hurting."

Well, I have never heard God with my ears, but I have heard Him in my heart.  And it recently happened to me.

I got home from work, and my wife said, "Have you seen the plug that goes into the back of the processor?" I thought for a second, and said, "Nope."

We tried to retrace our steps and search. Nothing. We huddled up to pray. Then we searched some more. Still nothing.

This went on for over 30 minutes. I looked upstairs and downstairs. Inside empty boxes. Hunted through drawers. ZERO! No cord. Lots of frustration. But, no cord.

Then it happened. The still small voice of God.

After 30 minutes of searching for an electrical cord, God spoke. "Do you seek me with the same amount of effort as you do for an electrical cord?"

WHOA! Absolutely convicted!

I spent over 30 minutes looking for an electrical cord. Have I spent 30 minutes in the 24 hours seeking God? In prayer? Through the Bible? In my journal? Talking to Him? Listening for Him? Really seeking Him? I sure haven't.

But, I tell ya what, I heard him LOUD and clear!! He is speaking! He is not silent, we're just not listening.
