Simple Christmas, True Joy
It's the most wonderful time of the year! The words JOY, JOLLY and MERRY are used everywhere. But is it, really?
I have received several emails and texts from JOY99 friends hurting, suffering from depression and even loneliness. How does that mesh with Joy?
Dan Seaborn from Winning At Home was in the studio last when he said, "Christmas can bring some of the most simple thoughts of 'days gone by' back to us". He was referring to days that were simpler, and happier. Days that weren't met with an empty chair, or an empty heart. Those things can easily make you feel empty, instead of joyful.
When kids are asked about Christmas, it is about anticipation and excitement. They see the good. They anticipate the great and the simplest of things.
I encourage you to look for the simplicity of Christmas as seen through the eyes of a child. And, as you read the Christmas story, pause and look for the simplicity of the moment. Think of what Mary and Joseph must have been thinking about and going through.
What if we spend as much time with "The Christmas story" as we do buying and wrapping gifts for our kids? THAT would certainly bring Joy Unwrapped.
