Leaves

It is the time of year where the trees share their beautiful colors and shortly after fall
sweetly to the ground. You know what that means? Raking galore!

My husband spent a great deal of time raking and bagging leaves this past week. The
lawn looked pretty nice by the time he was done. Well, over night we had a great
deal of wind and we woke up the next morning to a completely leaf blanketed yard.
The yard looked like he hadn’t even touched it the day before it had so many leaves
on it!

A bit discouraged, but also understanding the reality of the leaf collection in the fall,
my husband sighed and said,
“Well, at least I got some of them.”

There were so many more leaves that needed to be gathered, but he did get a good
start on the leaves that had already fallen the day before.

“Doing good” in the name of Christ can often feel this way. Needs are always great.
Workers are often few. There will always be more that can be done. Sometimes it
can feel like perhaps it isn’t even worth doing because we aren’t even making a dent
in the project!

Galatians 6:9 says,
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest
if we do not give up.”

Don’t give up! Discouragement comes to rob us of our tenacious spirit of getting
things done. Keep pressing on even if it looks like you’re barely making a dent in the
project. Your work can make a difference even if it is a small one. Let God bless and
multiply your efforts to bring in God’s harvest!
