Pay it Forward
Each year at Christmas as a staff, we split up into groups and are given a certain dollar amount to go out into the community and spread joy with.
My group decided to head to Walmart to purchase the items we needed.
While I was waiting my turn in line, I kept feeling a nudge to pay for the lady’s groceries in front of me. For the sake of being transparent, I didn’t want to.
I fought the nudge because that was not the mission I was on. I was nervous about how she would react; would she be offended. I felt like the more I pushed back with excuses, the hotter my face was getting until I said “yes Lord’.
The time came for her to pay and I very nervously stepped to the register and told the cashier that I would be taking care of it.
I swiped the card and looked over at the lady in line. She was crying. She could barely speak, all she could get out was, “thank you”.
I explained that this was all from the Lord, I even humbly told her how I was hesitant but the Lord wasn’t going to give up on this mission He had planned for her.
After she left, the cashier gave glory to God and a lady from another lane came over and said she had never seen anything like that before and we got to witness to her as well.
Later that day, our radio station was contacted by the lady we helped. She explained that her whole morning was awful and she had even lost her wallet right before the purchase of her groceries which took hours to find.
In her words she said, “the whole thing let her know that God sees her, is with her and is working all things for her good”.
Now, here’s a crazy detail, that particular check out was the third one I went to! I had first gone to a self check which didn’t work and even to the customer service and their registers weren’t working!
God was fully in control of carrying out His mission. Go Jesus!
