What Does Your Life "Preach"?

We started playing this song a couple months ago, and I thought it was really good. It says "I want my life to preach"! I thought, I love those lyrics. And it's true. I want my life to preach grace, love, forgiveness, but does it? The truth is, your life IS going to preach...even when you don't mean it for it to.

I'll explain. Every time you leave the house, make a phone call or drive your car...your life preaches. Does it preach the way you hope it does? Or does it preach "short-tempered", "sarcastic tone", "impatience", "haughty eyes". Woah. I've preached all those things in the last week and I didn't even know it! I think that's why this song stopped me in my tracks. Eek.

The first verse says:

"I talk about grace

I talk about love
I talk about faith
But some days I don't have enough
I talk about forgiveness
Still learning how to give it

Lord, I need your strength to live what I believe

We all can TALK about those things, but does our life Preach them?

The other day I ran to the store and when I came out, someone had hit my car. My new car that I had just gotten 19 days prior. The person who hit it and his wife were there, looking at the damage when I walked up. In that situation, my life could've "preached" many many different things. Good or bad. Thankfully, by God's grace and the Holy Spirit guiding me, I was able to ask them what had happened and if they were okay. We exchanged information and my car is in the shop right now being fixed.

I wish I could say I react that way every time. That my life preaches everything I talk about on the radio, but humanness gets the best of us sometimes and I fail. But God forgives. And I'm grateful. What is your life preaching today? ~Brooke

By the way, Preach by Ryan Stevenson is one of the songs you might find on your JoyJam card! Be listening weekdays at 7:20, 8:20, 12:20 and 4:20 to play!
