Prayers & Scriptures for Students
Back to school is here and Joy99 wants to help provide you with scriptural guidance and a template to pray over your children/grandchildren for the new school year.
Sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start when praying for our children. Our hope is that this resource can help you expand and deepen your prayers.
When I Am Afraid
Verse:
Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Prayer:
God, remind _______ that you tell us not to fear. You are there every second of the day—in every class, on every bus ride, and during every test. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
When I Need Wisdom
Verse:
James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God… and it will be given to you.”
Prayer:
Lord, help _______ understand what they’re being taught. Give them wisdom, clarity, and understanding as they learn. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
When I Feel Overwhelmed
Verse:
Romans 8:37 “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
Prayer:
Father, thank you that _______ is never alone. When doubt and fear creep in, gently remind _______ that through You, they are more than a conqueror. You are for them, You are with them, and You will give them strength for whatever they face today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
When I Need to Show Kindness
Verse:
Luke 6:31 “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
Prayer:
God, I pray that ________ treats people with kindness, respect, and love. Help them to be a light to those around them and to show others the same grace and compassion they would want to receive. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
When I Have Decisions to Make
Verse:
Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Prayer:
Jesus, ________ will be making many decisions today. Some are big, and some are small. In each one, remind ________ to trust You when facing these choices. Give them wisdom to know the right path and courage to follow it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
