Scoops of Joy
Handing out ice cream at parks sounds like a light hearted way to spread joy, and it is but sometimes the Lord uses those opportunities for something deeper.
We had a family walk up to receive the free ice cream and in chatting we learned that they were living with homelessness out of their car.
With the loss of a job and high rent prices, they found themselves in a trial that they never expected. We didn’t have a home to give but we did have a listening ear and a message of hope.
On another occasion of handing out free ice cream, I met a mom who was facing a trial that a parent hopes to never go through.
Her daughter was abused by a family member and had recently started the therapy process. Through this moms tears she asked if we would keep them in our prayers.
I truly felt the Holy Spirit move and so we sat together in prayer. Although the time at the park came to an end, our friendship did not.
Through time this family received Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I even got a chance to see the youngest son do so at a christian concert Joy Bus was at. It’s amazing to see what God can do with a cup of ice cream.
