Wise Up
This month, JOY99 is encouraging you to read one chapter of Proverbs daily during May. May has 31 days. Proverbs has 31 Chapters. Just read the chapter of Proverbs that corresponds with the day of the month. (May 1, Chapter 1, etc.) Cool, huh?
What is Proverbs? Proverbs Chapter 1:2 says, "for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight;" This book of the Bible is all about wisdom.
I love the Indiana Jones movies. In the 3rd movie, "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", in order to save his dying Father, Indy has to cross a deep invisible "canyon" to reach the Holy Grail. To get to the other side, he uses clues from an ancient diary, and has to take a "leap of faith" by stepping off a ledge into the unknown. Thinking quickly, Indy threw sand in front of him, proving that an invisible bridge supported his every step. Yet, it took a true step of faith to pull this off. Whew!
Here's something to think about: How do you know the difference between right and wrong? What is your ancient diary? Where do you find knowledge, discretion and direction in life?
Here is the basic of the basics: for real wisdom, your first step is fear of the LORD. It isn't found through Indiana Jones. The clues for your steps are found in the Bible.
Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
What method are you using to direct your steps? I invite you to walk with us in Proverbs this month of May, and "Wise-Up". A Proverb a day in the month of May with JOY99.
